From Concept to Finished Book in Twelve Months

In the class, we will explore how to:

•  Make time to write in the midst of your busy life
•  Balance “inspiration” and “perspiration”
•  Stick with your writing when it gets tough
•  Work through procrastination and “the inner critic”
•  Plan and track your work to so you can write your book this year

The Five Stages of Editing

April 6, 2014, from 2:30-5 pm
At the Bainbridge Island Public Library

In the class, we explored the five stages of editing:

1. Relaxing: Taking time off from your book
2. Reading: Bringing fresh eyes to your book and making a revision plan
3. Restructuring: Story, character, and themes (in fiction); organization and logic (in non-fiction)
4. Rewriting: Editing line by line for flow and readability
5. Refining: Checking facts, proofreading, examining word choice
