In the first episode of the show, I speak with physician and bestselling author Carol Cassella about:
- how she made the transition from aspiring writer to published author;
- why we do all our writing in Scrivener;
- the inspiration for her most recent medical drama, GEMINI;
- how her writing process has developed over the years;
- the recent changes in the publishing industry;
- how writers use research as a procrastination tool;
- three books that changed her life, and more.
Plus, on “Today in Writing”—the 63rd anniversary of The Shot Heard Round the World. And on “Today in NOT Writing”—calling the phone company.

Today, I am discovering Podcasts and enjoyed listening to your interview of author Carol Cassella. I recently retired from 38 years of practice as a general dentist and feel now is the time to write that book. I have spent months in research and learning how to best use my MacBook Air, the internet and all the apps and accessories. Can certainly relate to “research” and procrastination….lol. I have discovered Scribner and still trying to figure out how to best use this wonderful program. So far, I have been spending most of my writing time on creating a detailed outline of the book. Yesterday I sign up for a 3 day writers workshop….the Tony Hillerman Writers Conference in Santa Fe, NM. This will be a first and will go in with my eyes open.
Anyway, I look forward to more podcasts on Writer’s 2.0. Perhaps you could do a program on how to use Scribner or how those you interview are using it.

Hi Gary,
Thanks for writing. I’m so glad you’re enjoying the show. I was thrilled to discover podcasts, too. And congratulations on deciding to write your book. That’s a huge first step and I wish you the best with it. I love the idea of talking about how to use Scrivener on the show. I’ll see if I can find an expert, or I may just talk about it myself at some point. I’m not an expert on the technical side of things, but I could definitely talk about how I use it and why it works so well for me.
The episode that will be released tomorrow features Deb Caletti, who writes both young adult and adult fiction and has been a finalist for the National Book Award. Next week I’ll release two shows–one with NY Times bestselling thriller author Robert Dugoni and one with legendary sportswriter (and ESPN staple) Bob Ryan. So, there should be something for everyone. If you have a moment, it would be a big help if you review the show in Itunes on your MacBook. Just click here, then click “View in Itunes” and you should be able to add a review.
Thanks again for listening,
A.C.
